AbdulAziz Mahmud Yaru is a 31 year old sickle cell patient who now suffers from a problem with his right eye. Doctors treating him at Makkah Specialist Eye Hospital in Kano diagnosed him as having vitreous hemorrhage and retinal detachment. These have led to a loss of vision in the right eye. He has thus been referred to Makkah Eye Complex, Khartoum, Sudan for PPV surgery.

The total cost of his treatment and other expenses (flight ticket, accommodation,etc) has been put at N500,000 (five hundred thousand naira). The actual cost of treatment is $1000 (one thousand dollars), about N150,000 (one hundred and fifty thousand naira). Some kind individuals have pledged to take care of all other expenses apart from the cost of surgery. He therefore needs just N150,000 (one hundred and fifty thousand naira) only to enable him travel and get treated.
